5, 2007: Team Xtreme
travels to WIlliamsburg for the Virginia AAU Championship. 14 members of
of the squad participated in this event earning 14 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze
medals. 2007 marked the first year for this event hosted by Joe Ash of
Beaplex Martial Arts. The tournament hosted 300 competitors and
offered some good experience for our developmental team.
April 27-29, 2007:
Team Xtreme Excels at Kansas Qualifier!
The four member team, competing for an opportunity to participate in the
World Class divisions at the Junior Olympics in San Jose, California, earned
their spots! The team, comprised of Anna Borkowski, Devoria Whitaker,
Marcus Munday and AJ Samba, garnered 6 Gold medals and 1 silver medal.
April 21, 2007:
Team Xtreme attended the Korean
Consul Invitational in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The tournament hosted some
strong local teams from Maryland and Virginia, offering our athletes some great
competitive experiences. Congratulations to our 13 members who garnered 15
Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. 5 of our athletes qualified for the
grand championships and Jennifer Newman, Marcus Munday and Anna Borkowski
claimed 3 grand championship trophies for sparring.
April 7, 2007:
Congratulations to our athlete Emily Atwood who competed in
the Waldorf AAU Championship. Emily performed well, securing double gold
in her events.
March 31, 2007:
Team Xtreme member Josh Zajdel takes a Silver medal at the
Mid Atlantic AAU Championships. Josh easily defeated his opponent in the
semi finals with a 7 point gap. Josh fought a formidable opponent in
the finals taking the match to sudden death.
March 11, 2007:
Team Xtreme has a strong showing at AAU Qualifier. 6 of
the team's 10 fighters ended their matches before the second round due to the 7
point gap earning 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. 9 members competed
in poomse earning 5 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals for Team Xtreme.
All Team Xtreme competitors have qualified for the AAU Nationals being held in
Ft. Lauderdale in July.
February 3-4, 2007:
Devoria Whitaker, Marcus Munday and Robert Smith
traveled to Stuttgart, Germany to take part in the KTO President's Cup. Each
athlete placed first in their respective sparring divisions, earning 3
Gold medals for the USA. Marcus Munday was selected as one of the top male
fighters and received an invitation from Mr. Soo Nam PARK, Vice
President of the WTF to compete in Korea April 5-15, 2007.
January 6, 2007:
The 9th Annual Pennsylvania Master's
Cup was held on Saturday, January 6, 2007. 12 members of Team Xtreme
traveled to the event to test their skills against competitors from up and down
the east coast. The small, but dominant force earned 9 Gold, 5 Silver and
4 Bronze medals. Seven of the team members crushed their divisions winning
their fights due to the 7 point gap or the 12 point ceiling ruling.
Brandi Powers
easily controlled the Senior sparring division and claimed the Grand
Championship trophy for her event.
